Did you know that Line 2 (The Green Line) is the only circular line in Seoul? It connects the hottest districts where locals hang out. If you want to see the "real" vibrant Seoul, just follow the green signs!

Today, I’ll show you the Must-Visit Stops on the northern half of the loop. Let’s hop on!

🎨 Stop 1: Hongik Univ. Station (Station 239) - "The Street of Youth"

  • Why Visit: This is the epicenter of Seoul’s indie music, street dance, and urban art.
  • Kiki’s Top Pick: Hongdae Street. Located right outside Exit 8 of Hongik University Station on Subway Line 2, this is a vibrant street for young people overflowing with diverse food and attractions. Visiting in the evening, in particular, offers a unique travel experience.
  • Must-Eat: "Walking Street" Tteokbokki. For a sit-down meal, try "Bagel Land" (A cafe where you can enjoy various bagels, sandwiches, and drinks)—Sandwiches made with chewy bagels and fresh ingredients are popular, and can be enjoyed with various spreads such as truffle cream cheese or blueberry cream cheese. Additionally, the extensive coffee and beverage menu makes it a great place to visit for breakfast or brunch.

☕ Stop 2: Euljiro 3-ga Station (Station 203) - "The Hip-jiro Vibe"

  • Why Visit: A must-visit attraction when you come to Korea! This is the Hipjiro alley, visible immediately upon exiting Exit 9, 11 of Euljiro 3-ga Station on Subway Line 2. Filled with sights and activities to enjoy morning and evening, this place is also perfect for a beautiful stroll along Cheonggyecheon Stream!
  • Kiki’s Top Pick: Euljiro Nogari Alley. Experience the Korean "Pocha" (street bar) culture here at night with draft beer and dried snacks.
  • Must-Eat: "Baekyeom Makchang"(백염막창). This is a popular restaurant known for its diverse menu featuring domestic pork intestines. The popular Daegu-style pork intestines and seasoned pork intestines are savory and free of any gamey odor, while the chewy pork neck and pork intestine sundae are also popular choices.

🏭 Stop 3: Seongsu Station (Station 211) - "The Brooklyn of Seoul"

  • Why Visit: Old shoe factories have been transformed into high-end fashion boutiques, various pop-up stores, large warehouse-style cafes, and various types of restaurants. Yeonmujang-gil, located at Exit 3 of Seongsu Station on Subway Line 2, is a street that represents this transformation.
  • Kiki’s Top Pick: Don't miss taking photos at the recommended cafe "Cheonsang Gaok" or the beautiful photo spot "Dior Seongsu" both located on Yeonmujang-gil in Seongsu-dong. The blend of an old factory and a luxury fashion brand is impressive.
  • Must-Eat: "Somunnan Seongsu Gamjatang". Featured on many TV shows, this spicy pork bone soup is the soul food of this neighborhood. (Don't worry, you can ask for 'less spicy'!)
  • 🐾 Kiki’s Subway "Pro-Tips" for Line 2

    1. Inner vs. Outer Circle: Since it’s a loop, check the direction!

      • Inner Circle (내선순환): Clockwise direction.

      • Outer Circle (외선순환): Counter-clockwise direction.

    2. The Rush Hour Challenge: Avoid Line 2 between 08:00–09:00 and 18:00–19:00. We call it "Hell-subway" for a reason! You might get squished like a pancake 🥞.

    3. Transfer Hack: Line 2 connects to almost every other line. Use the "Kakao Map" or "Naver Map" app to find the fastest car number for transfers (e.g., "Transfer at door 4-2").

🐾 Next Your Line 2 Journey!

The next leg of the journey covers the southern part of Subway Line 2: Gangnam, Samseong, and Jamsil. Please take a look and I hope it helps you have a pleasant trip!
