Hello, global explorers! It’s your elegant, Hanbok-wearing feline guide, Kiki 🐾.
Today, I am going on a trip on the Suin-Bundang Line (Yellow Line), one of the coolest subway lines in Korea.
This is not just a subway line; it is a cross-country adventure! It starts in the trendy, K-Pop-filled center of Seoul, travels south through affluent suburban cities, and goes all the way to the western ocean in Incheon. Whether you want to sip espresso in a Dior cafe, walk through a beautiful forest, or eat fresh crab by the sea, the Yellow Line has it all.
Follow my paw prints as we explore the ultimate stops on this incredible golden route!
🌳 1. Seoul Forest Station (Station K211): "The Brooklyn of Seoul"
📌 Why Visit
Step out of the station and you are immediately in Seoul Forest, a massive, eco-friendly park perfect for picnics and deer feeding. But the real magic lies right next to it: the neighborhood connects to Seongsu-dong, famous for turning abandoned shoe factories into massive, aesthetic indie cafes and pop-up stores.
👀 Kiki’s Hidden Gem
- SM Entertainment Headquarters (Kwangya): Right at the station exit is the towering D Tower, home to SM Entertainment (the agency behind aespa, NCT, and EXO). Visit the "Kwangya Seoul" flagship store on the basement floor to buy exclusive K-Pop merchandise and take amazing photos!
[SM Entertainment : 83-21 Wangsimni-ro, Seongdong-gu, Seoul]
🍽️ Must-Eat
- Seongsu Galbi Alley: After exploring the cafes, follow the delicious smell of smoke to the famous Galbi Alley. Sit on plastic chairs outdoors and grill premium marinated pork ribs (Dwaeji Galbi) over hot charcoal. It’s loud, local, and incredibly tasty.
[Seongsu Galbi Alley : 27 Seoulsup 4-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul]
💎 2. Apgujeong Rodeo Station (Station K212): "High Fashion & Luxury"
📌 Why Visit
Welcome to the absolute peak of Korean luxury. Apgujeong Rodeo is the playground for celebrities, influencers, and fashion elites. The streets are lined with breathtaking flagship stores for global designer brands and underground streetwear boutiques.
👀 Kiki’s Hidden Gem
- Dosan Park: Hidden behind the luxury stores is this quiet, elegant park dedicated to a Korean independence activist. The streets immediately surrounding the park are filled with the most visually stunning, high-end dessert cafes in the country.
[Dosan Park : 20 Dosan-daero 45-gil, Gangnam District, Seoul]
🍽️ Must-Eat
- Designer Concept Cafes: You aren't just eating; you are experiencing art. Visit cafes operated by high fashion brands (like the Dior Cafe) or the famous Nudake (by Gentle Monster) to eat pitch-black matcha croissants that look like modern sculptures.
☕ 3. Jeongja Station (Station K230): "The European Suburb"
📌 Why Visit
Let’s leave Seoul! A quick ride south takes you to Bundang, one of Korea’s wealthiest planned cities. Jeongja Station is famous for its relaxed, upscale expat vibe that feels entirely different from the fast-paced energy of central Seoul.
👀 Kiki’s Hidden Gem
- Jeongja-dong Cafe Street: Walk a few minutes from the station to find a long, beautiful street lined with European-style outdoor terraces, boutique bakeries, and brunch spots. It’s the perfect place to sit with a book, sip a flat white, and people-watch on a sunny afternoon.
[Jeongja-dong Cafe Street : 12-2 Jeongja-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do]
🍽️ Must-Eat
- Premium K-BBQ & Craft Beer: This area is famous for high-quality dining. Enjoy premium cuts of Jeju Black Pork or dry-aged beef, followed by a visit to one of the many local craft beer pubs serving excellent microbrews.
🦀 4. Soraepogu Station (Station K261): "The Authentic Ocean Market"
📌 Why Visit
From luxury cafes... to the ocean! Stay on the train all the way to Incheon, and you will reach Soraepogu. This is a bustling, incredibly raw, and authentic traditional coastal fish market. You can literally smell the salty sea breeze as soon as you step off the train.
[Soraepogu : 111-200 Nonhyeon-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon]
👀 Kiki’s Hidden Gem
- Sorae Ecology Park: Before hitting the market, take a walk to this beautiful ecological park. It features old salt fields, mudflats, and picturesque wooden windmills. It is a stunning, peaceful spot for landscape photography.
[Sorae Ecology Park : 1-21 Nonhyeon-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon]
🍽️ Must-Eat
- Live Seafood & Grilled Clams: Walk through the wet market, buy live snow crabs, giant tiger shrimp, or fresh scallops directly from the fishermen, and take them to a nearby restaurant. They will steam or grill them for you on the spot. Pair it with a cold beer—it is the ultimate coastal feast!
[Soraepogu Traditional Fish Market : 86-17 Jangdo-ro, Namdong-gu, Incheon] - Important Tip: If you plan to visit Soraepogu Fish Market, we recommend checking the market prices of fish and various seafood in advance. Otherwise, you might end up paying exorbitant prices. Please make sure to check the prices by searching on Google or Naver!
🐾 Kiki’s Subway "Pro-Tips" for the Yellow Line (CRITICAL!)
Because this line is so massive, you must know these survival tips:
- The 2.5-Hour Nap Trap: The Suin-Bundang Line is incredibly long. It takes over 2.5 hours to go from end to end! If you are traveling after a few drinks, do not fall asleep, or you might wake up in another city near the ocean!
- Express Trains (급행): This line has two different express trains: the Bundang Express and the Suin Express. They operate mainly during rush hours and skip many stations. Unless you are commuting long distances, stick to the All-Stop (일반) trains to avoid missing your stop.
- The Wangsimni Hub: Station K210 (Wangsimni) is a massive transfer hub connecting 4 different lines. If you get lost, follow the yellow line on the floor to find your way back to the Suin-Bundang platforms!
